Don't ignore a problem with your commercial garage door. Sure, the door might still function and not appear to be causing any major inconvenience. However, don't assume that you can just put off repairs. Learn some of the overlooked problems that could come along with a broken door so that you can move swiftly to repair the issue.
Lack of Security
A broken commercial garage door greatly diminishes the level of security around your business. A garage door is no different than the front entry door, to a criminal. If the door is damaged to the point that its integrity is at all questionable, an intruder can gain access through the door and have open access to your business.
To further complicate the matter, if an intruder enters your building through this manner and you attempt to fail a claim, your claim could be denied. The insurance company may determine that your lack of maintenance to the door is the reason for the break-in, and a result and leave you responsible for your loss.
A damaged garage door can result in a pest infestation. For example, consider a door with track damage that prevents the door from closing entirely. Even with a small opening, insects and small animals could pass through the underside of the door and enter your building.
Before long, you could have a complete infestation on your hands that may travel from your loading area into the working spaces of the building. In this instance, the door should be, and the business owner should have new stripping installed around the door to avoid an infestation.
One thing to remember about a damaged door is that it's only a matter of time before the damage gets worse. Consider a door with damaged springs, for instance. As the springs start to fail, it will become harder for the door to move along the track and open and close.
However, after some time, the springs will completely fail, and the door won't open. If the garage door is for a loading area or another area of your business that you need to use frequently, a broken door could hinder your productivity and your operations until the door is fixed. Have the door repaired promptly to avoid a future problem.
